Spencer County was founded in 1824 and has a population of 17,378 as of 2011. It is located in the heart of the Bluegrass with a rural setting and country lifestyle. The county seat is Taylorsville and Spencer County was named for Spier Spencer.

The 3,050 acres lake has 60 miles of shoreline, an average depth of 70' and no motor restrictions. The park offers access to fishing, boating, camping, including horse camp sites, RV sites and hookups and tents, as well as a 16-mile trail system.
Golfers can spend a day on the greens at the USGA-rated Tanglewood Golf Course. Shopping and antiquing is plentiful in Spencer County; you'll also find a nice variety of restaurants, full service resorts and Bed & Breakfasts.
