As our great city kicks off the KY Derby Festival with Throwback Thunder tomorrow, it is the beginning of two weeks of fun activities for all.

Go ahead and mark your calendar for next week, Thursday, April 24th through Saturday, April 26th for the family-friendly Great BalloonFest.

Thursday marks the start to this 40th year of the Great Balloon Race that has been recognized by Louisville Magazine as Louisville's "Best Event".

Here's the schedules and locations so you can plan how you and yours will take part in the events that go on during this time:

Thursday, April 24th:

5:00 pm:  Crew Challenge on the Waterfront

8:30 pm:  Great Balloon Glimmer on the Waterfront

Friday, April 25th:

7:00 am:  Great Balloon Rush-Hour Race at Bowman Field

6:00 pm:  gates open at KY Expo Center for the Great Balloon Glow  (Parking-$8)

Saturday, April 26th

7:00 am:  40th Annual Great Balloon Race at Bowman Field
