The city of Shively is a Third-Class city located in the southwestern part of Jefferson County, Kentucky. They have full time fire departments and police. Shively is centered around the junction of Dixie Highway and US60 with approximate boundaries as Millers Lane and Bernheim Lane to the north, Seventh Street to the east, I-264 to the west and Rockford Lane to the South, St. Dennis to the west and Pleasure Ridge Park to the South. Shively is named after an early landowner named Christian William Shively who settled his 1000 acre tract in 1810. He established a mill and to this day is still called Mill Creek.
