Valley Station, KY is in southwest Jefferson County. In 2003, when the government of Jefferson County merged with the city of Louisville, the residents of Valley Station became citizens of the Louisville Metro, therefore Valley Station is now a neighborhood within the city limits of Louisville. The town is named for its location in the valley between the Knobs and Muldraugh Hill.
The first settlement in the area occurred in the mid 19th century after an early swamp was drained. Large scale development occured between the 1950s and 1960s. The Salt River Turnpike, today known as Dixie Highway, ran through this area.
Valley Station is known for the Riverside, The Farnsley-Mormen Landing which is the historic 300 acre farm and house in Southwest Louisville along the riverside.
